Goal
How to improve an app that is already one of the top rated in his category?
The challenge was to enhance the experience of the Zara app. For those living under a rock, Zara is the world’s largest apparel retailer.
In order to do so, a research was conducted, and as a result, a new feature/section was found to be the ideal solution.
Research
Apart from minor changes in the app, users are looking for a more personalized shopping experience. They would like to know how to create outfits specifically for them. Furthermore, they would be keen to receive suggestions on what fits them better to their body type, or what colors combine better with their personal features.
Solution
A new section in the zara app, called “My Advisor”. Where you have to input your personal details, so the app offers the user choices based on their characteristics. It consists of three subsections: Clothes, Looks, and Create your Look.

After testing with these mid-fidelity wireframes, I realized some things were not working. You can see in the prototype how it evolved from the first wireframes to the final result. Even the name has changed, it was called “Personal Advisor” at the very beginning.

INPUT DETAILS
To start with this section the user needs to input some personal features such as skin color, hair color and eye color. The user needs to input your real measurements height, weight. If the user is registered in the app they only need to do this once, unless the user want to change them.
CLOTHES
Here you will find a menu same as you will find in the regular section, but only with the clothes that fit you best. Once you select the item and you are in the process to add it to the basket the size will automatically be selected according to what you input before.
LOOKS
Here you can tell the app the kind of look that you are looking for and how formal do you need it. After you will have different looks to select from, each of them include everything that you need to create a complete look. Here you have an “Add all” buttont to put in your shopping basket all the items, or, you can tap each of them like in a normal purchase.
CREATE YOUR LOOK
In this section you can create looks based on the garments that favor you and also in between them.
Swiping from right to left or left to right, you can combine top parts, with bottom parts and shoes, and based on that the accessories at the bottom will be changing.
Same as before you can add all the garments by the button add all or you can click on any specific garment to go to the product detail page.
